ABOUT THE EVENT: While the increasing economic influence of China continues to bring about significant sociocultural shifts, the hidden treasures of its traditional wisdom, such as Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity, still seem not sufficiently well recognized. The "Macau Manifesto" has been developed by a wide range of economists focused on common values, especially the principles of fairness, solidarity, subsidiarity and orientation to the common good. The goal is to develop a new economic paradigm which is oriented towards the common good of the larger society rather than just to the benefit of privileged segments of society, by relating present dilemmas and conflicts in business to key values in times of AI.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS: Stephan Rothlin SJ holds a doctorate in moral theology from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, is affiliate of the Integral Ecology Network of the Laudato Si Institute of Campion Hall, Oxford and program director of the AI Applied Ethics project of the World Ethics Institute and the Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Peking University. He is Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Business and Law of the University of Saint Joseph, Macau where he also serves as Editor of the Macau Ricci Institute Journal. In 1998 he relocated to China where his research has focused on international business ethics and Catholic Social Teaching with a focus on China and India. CEO of Rothlin Management Consulting Ltd., Beijing and Hong Kong, he provides educational consulting services to encourage the practice of corporate social responsibility and cross-cultural literacy.

In 1993, he received an MBA from the China Europe International Business School. In 2000, he studied for a DBA in cross culture and international management at the Cranfield School of Management.
