MORE ABOUT THE EVENT: Since last autumn, RASBJ aficionados of China's cuisines and cultures have gathered both online and in person to discuss books evoking Chinese food, from ancient to modern times. Join us at Yipin Dian to enjoy a taste of Kunming cuisine. Former Kunming resident Liz Witcher will introduce some of the specialties offered by the restaurant, one of her favorites for Kunming food in Beijing. For this dinner, no reading is required –- registration is open to any foodies who have an interest inYunnancai. We also want to say farewell to Books & Bubbles host Abigail Hostetter, and to hear your ideas about future book discussion topics.

ABOUT THE HOST: Abigail Hostetter has been a longtime resident of China with a passion for tasty food and literature. She created the RASBJ's Books & Bubbles Wechat group, an innovative online and in-person format for discussing books focused on Chinese food -- and she organized memorable Chinese meals, toasted with glasse of bubbly. She is departing China soon for the USA.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: An American teacher in Beijing, Liz Grace Witcher lived in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, for three years. There, she discovered an undying love for 米线 (mixian) and all things Yunnan food. Although she's happiest hunched over a knee-high table slurping down an 8 RMB bowl of 豆花米线 (douhua mixian) in the Spring City, she's excited to share this Kunming comfort food with us in the Chinese capital, along with brief introductions to some of the dishes, and stories about them.

HOW MUCH: 198 RMB for members of RASBJ, 298 RMB for non-members. This includes a set menu dinner, soft drinks and sparkling wine (provided by RASBJ). You may find payment by Alipay easier than by Wechat; you can also pay by credit card. Seating is limited and RASBJ members enjoy priority as a membership benefit.
