MORE ABOUT THE EVENT: This in-person gathering is the culmination of six weeks of online discussion on Linda Furiya's book How to Cook a Dragon. Members of the discussion group are warmly invited to an afternoon of Beijing's classic zhajiang mian, sparkling wine and a lively chat about identity, Beijing versus Shanghai, and what has changed in China since the late 1990's. Moderated by Abigail Hostetter.



ABOUT THE MODERATOR: Abigail Hostetter is a lifelong educator who taught in several countries and is a bibliophile fascinated by the differences between cultures.



HOW MUCH: RMB 150 for RASBJ members; RMB 200 for non-members. The price includes sparkling wine, and one bowl of the restaurant's classic Beijing soybean-paste noodles per person. RASBJ is responsible for the sparkling wine and paying corkage fees; if attendees wish to order other drinks, such as wine, or additional food, these can be ordered from the restaurant menu at participants' personal expense. (Aside from sparkling wine and noodles, RASBJ will not be responsible for additional items.)

HOW TO JOIN THE EVENT: Please click "Register" or "I Will Attend" by noon on November 28 and follow the instructions. After successful registration, you will receive a confirmation email. If you seem not to have received it, please check your spam folder.

Numbers will be limited; places will be allocated in order of receipt of payment. Registrations for those who have not paid by November 28 will be cancelled to make room for more, since space is limited. Priority will be given to members of the Books & Bubbles Wechat group.



REFUND POLICY: Attendees will be refunded in full if the event is cancelled or postponed by RASBJ.
