ABOUT THE EVENT: Arthur R. Kroeber from Gavekal Dragonomics, will be in conversation with WSJ's Jonathan Cheng, on the China-US tech crunch, and avenues that could lead us away from crisis.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Founder of Gavekal Dragonomics, a China-focused economic research firm with offices in Beijing and Hong Kong, Arthur Kroeber spent fifteen years as a financial and economic journalist in China and South Asia before establishing Dragonomics. He is adjunct professor of economics at the NYU Stern School of Business and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the National Committee on US-China Relations. His book "China's Economy: What Everyone Needs to Know" (2nd edition 2020) was published by Oxford University Press. "The Real China Model: Beijing's Enduring Formula for Wealth and Power", with Dan Wang, was published this autumn by Foreign Affairs.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR: Jonathan Cheng is the China Bureau Chief of The Wall Street Journal, overseeing the paper's coverage of the world's second-largest economy across a range of areas including politics, economics, business, technology and society. Mr. Cheng leads a team of more than two dozen correspondents and researchers in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore and New York, with responsibility for the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. Mr. Cheng was earlier the Seoul bureau chief for the Journal, running coverage of the whole Korean peninsula. A native of Toronto, Canada, Mr. Cheng graduated from Princeton University with a degree in history.
