MORE ABOUT THE EVENT: This event is a small-group dinner and conversation with social scientist Iza Ding, including but not limited to topics related to her new book on authoritarianism or to her first book on environmental governance. The venue was once the private residence of Mei Lanfang, one of China's legendary Peking Opera performers; it has been elegantly restored and is now a dining and event space south of Qianmen. Dinner features Chinese dishes from famous state banquets, prepared by apprentices of the chefs who created them. We will dine in Mei's former study. To ensure ease of discussion among all attendees, this event is off the record and participants are requested to refrain from making AV recordings.
