WHAT: "The best Beijing museums you've never heard of", an RASBJ online talk by Simon Cockerell of Koryotours

WHEN: Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 7:00-8:00 PM Beijing Time

MORE ABOUT THE EVENT: Beijing boasts some of the world's best-known – and least-known -- museums. Determined to visit every museum in the Chinese capital in 2021, Simon Cockerell took in displays focused on everything from ancient bronzes to watermelons, from Manchu culture to classic cars. In his pilgrimage to about 100 museums, some of what Simon saw was captivating; some surreal (such as a sculpture of enormous watchful eyes at the Police Museum). In this online talk Simon describes the greatest hits (and misses) of Beijing's museum universe. You might even be tempted to visit the Risheng Hosiery Museum, with its short history of socks, and to buy some socks to wear.

BY INVITATION ONLY: RASBJ events are free and under normal circumstances exclusively for members of RASBJ and partner RAS branches. However these are not normal times -- at least not for many in China or involved with entities in China. Increasingly stringent anti-pandemic measures have restricted travel (and, in some places that means travel beyond your doorstep) and reduced the availability of many leisure activities. Catering to increased demand, RASBJ is inviting you and a number of other non-members to take part in this online event -- just follow the directions on how to register and sign up in the category of "Special Guest" with "RASBJ" as your invitor. We hope you enjoy the talk -- and feel persuaded to sign up for RASBJ membership! For more details on becoming a member, go https://rasbj.org/membership/

HOW TO JOIN THE EVENT: If you are an RASBJ member, please click "Register" or "I Will Attend" at least 48 hours before the event, and follow the instructions. After successful registration, you'll receive a confirmation email with a link to join the event. If you seem not to have received it, please check your spam folder.

Members of partner RAS branches: Please register at least 48 hours in advance. You will receive two emails in response, the first confirming receipt of your registration request and the second confirming your registration, with a link to join the event. Please check your spam folder to ensure you see all RASBJ emails.
